RECORDER LESSONS
with Fiona Robinson
So, you’re interested in learning to play the recorder and are thinking about having lessons.
What a lovely instrument you’ve chosen.
Or maybe you already play and are looking to continue recorder lessons with a different teacher.
Whatever the reason you’re here, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
I’d love to help you with your own playing in any way I can.
How can I help you?
Flexible approach
Most of all I’d like you to enjoy learning to play the recorder and having recorder lessons and I want you to feel that you have a say in what we do. So, my approach is a flexible one based on what you want to achieve. Sometimes I use tutor books during lessons, a lot of times I don’t and I’m happy for you to choose music and tell me what you want to learn.
Developing musicianship
I like to include some music theory plus a little composition and even improvisation. In other words, I’d like to help you develop as a musician as well as a pianist. I’m happy to work towards exams or stay well away from them if you’d prefer.
Exams, or not?
Maybe you’d like to learn ‘Happy Birthday’ or you heard something on the radio and want to be able to play it. Why not get in touch with me and let me know your recorder playing goals.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to own a recorder?
If you are a beginner, then it’s fine for the first few lessons for you not to have a recorder. I have an instrument that you can use. Then, when you are sure you want to carry on having recorder lessons, we can talk about getting an instrument of your own and I can give you advice about this. If you already play, then it’s important that you have access to a recorder so you can use it in between lessons.
Where do recorder lessons take place?
I teach one to one or small group flute lessons at my home in Fulwood. I also offer lessons online.
How much does it cost to have recorder lessons?
A weekly 30-minute individual lesson costs £16 and this is what most pupils have. However, I’m happy to teach longer lessons or teach less frequently. I ask for lessons to be paid for in advance, a half term at a time.
I’m interested. What do I do now?
Please contact me and tell me what you’re looking for. Then, if you’re happy to go ahead, we can arrange a one off ‘taster’ lesson so you can meet me, experience how I work and decide if you’d like to carry on having recorder lessons with me.
