FLUTE LESSONS with Fiona Robinson
So, you’re interested in learning to play the flute and are thinking about having lessons.
What a beautiful instrument you’ve chosen.
Or maybe you already play and are looking to continue flute lessons with a different teacher.
Well, I really hope I can help you improve your playing.
Whatever the reason you’re here, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
How can I help you?
Flexible approach
Most of all I’d like you to enjoy learning to play the flute and having flute lessons and I want you to feel that you have a say in what we do. So, my approach is a flexible one based on what you want to achieve. Sometimes I use tutor books during lessons, lots of times I don’t and I’m always happy to listen to you telling me what music you’d love to learn.
Developing musicianship
During lessons I like to include some music theory plus maybe a little composition and even improvisation. In other words, I’d like to help you develop as a musician as well as a flautist.
Exams, or not?
I’m happy to work towards exams or stay well away from them if you’d prefer. Maybe you’d like to learn ‘Happy Birthday’, or pass a Grade 5 exam, or perhaps you heard something on the radio and want to be able to play it. Why not get in touch with me and let me know your flute playing goals.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to own a flute?
If you are a beginner, then it’s fine for the first few lessons for you not to have an instrument. I have a flute that I am happy for you to use during lessons while you decide if it’s the instrument for you. Then, when you are sure you want to carry on having flute lessons, we can talk about buying or hiring an instrument and I can give you advice about this. If you already play, then it’s important that you have access to a flute so you can use it in between lessons.
Where do flute lessons take place?
I teach one to one or small group flute lessons at my home in Fulwood. I also offer lessons online.
How much does it cost to have flute lessons?
A weekly 30-minute individual lesson costs £16 and this is what most pupils have. However, I’m happy to teach longer lessons or teach less frequently. I ask for lessons to be paid for in advance, a half term at a time.
I’m interested. What do I do now?
Please contact me and tell me what you’re looking for. Then, if you’re happy to go ahead, we can arrange a one off ‘taster’ lesson so you can meet me, experience how I work and decide if you’d like to carry on having flute lessons with me.
